I have been a Dee Jay all my life.. As a kid I had my own show on my tape recorder which many friends were forced to listen to when they came over to visit.
In the 1960 I was a weekly guest on a folk music program called "Folk Lore with George Lorrie". My job was to listen to new folk albums that George was receiving and talk about my opinions on the air.
When I joined the Army from 61 to 63 my juices were flowing to do some kind of Dee jay stuff and I wound up doing an oldies show at the Service Clubs once a week. The oldies were songs like "Earth Angel" from the 50s. After all we were in the 60's now and these songs were oldies but goodies by now. And I haunted many local radio stations and wound up being a guest on many of them talking about my love of the music they played.
After the service I was MC of many local groups at various parks in Brooklyn, New York.
This went on for several years bringing me into the 1980's where I wound up as a weekly guest on a country music program in Elizabeth, New Jersey. When the show was canceled we moved on to a station in Hazlet, NJ where I really got my start. We were now on WCNJ a local station where I volunteered to do a weekly "Songs by Sinatra" show. I wound up doing alot of fill in work and eventually started "The Pop Shoppe" a show I still do to this day on the Internet. Every week many local singers and groups from the area sang on my show. My show was now a mixture of pop and Doo Wop music.
As 1991 approached I had already moved my show to the Freehold / Howell areas of New Jersey. The station at one point was sold and now only played religious music. I was lucky because our former Program Director started an Internet station called Top Shelf Oldies where I made my home for 11 years. As time went on I joined Memory Lane Oldies where I am today and I do 3 different type programs a week. My Friday night "Pop Shoppe" features all types of oldies including a Sinatra Segment. Tuesday night I do a folk music program and then there's my "Sunday night Doo Wop Party" from 10 PM till 1:01 AM
